2014 Miss Rodeo Ak-Sar-Ben Johanna Schmidt
Howdy everyone! My name is Johanna Schmidt but everyone calls me Jo, and for the next year, I have the honor of representing Ak-Sar-Ben's River City Rodeo and Stock Show (ARCR) as your 2014 Miss Rodeo Ak-Sar-Ben! I feel genuinely blessed to have the opportunity to represent not only ARCR and its 65th annual celebration, but also the world's second largest rodeo, the Justin Boots Championships!
In a one day competition, held a week prior ARCR, I received top honors in Horsemanship, Speech, Personality, and Appearance. I have met many loving and generous people along my travels as Miss Rodeo Ak-Sar-Ben so far and I am excited to see what the future holds. During this year I will be busy dedicating my time to representing this execeptional rodeo throughout the state of Nebraska as well as some surrounding states.
I'm the 22 year-old daughter of Bill and Shirley Schmidt. I have three older brothers, Steve, Derek, and Scott and they always give me a hard time. We grew up in Juniata, Nebraska, and had a second home in Blue Hill on our family farm where we learned the value of hard work and being there for one another. Hardwork, responsibility, faith, and love are just a few values that people can learn from being involved with country life as well as rodeo.
Over the years, I have learned that education can take you anywhere you want to go in the future. In May of 2014, I will graduate from Hastings College with my Bachelor's Degree in Accounting and Agribusiness. During my time at Hastings College, I have become an honorary member of Phi Theta Kappa and Omicron Delta Kappa, was listed on the Dean's List all four years, and was an assistant 4-H leader and volunteer for multiple organizations. When not traveling or working part-time, I enjoy shopping, showing horses, and taking a relaxing ride down the road or pasture.
I would personally like to invite you and your family to come out to next year's Ak-Sar-Ben's River City Rodeo and Stock Show and encourage you to mark your calendars for September 25-28, 2014 to enjoy the Justin Boots Championships and all that Ak-Sar-Ben has to offer!
